With priority number 3457 could I get a dorm

Ahh, I want to! Really? I’m SOO jealous! haha. Oh wow… lol I was too young at the time to go to the oktoberfest and whatnot. :frowning: But that sounds pretty… um interesting… haha.

And yes, I do! You should message me. =)

Haha, true trueee.

Yeah, my dad came over and was like “Get away from her!!” bahaa, and then I saw a fight…a real fight! It was pretty gross, this guy go punched in the nose and there was blood everywhere…and drunk people peeing in puddles. Tip #1 if you go to Oktoberfest: Don’t step in puddles! haha

Kay, I’ll message ya!

Oh my goshh! Not sure if I want to go to oktoberfest anymore… haha. At least the christmas markets are good. =) haha okay, yay!

my daughter will be attending fsu this fall. she was assigned to smith hall, but is also considering south gate. any recomendations?

I’m assuming she’s a freshman? if she doesn’t like the idea of a community style dorm, she can submit a change request starting Monday. however, from what I’ve read elsewhere, there are people on the waiting list who would love to have an assignment anywhere on campus. Smith is not physically as nice as some of the renovated dorms, but if my son had to make that decision, I’d advise him to take a dorm on campus.

Besides the fact that your daughter is contractually obligated to stay with FSU Housing, she’ll be much happier In the end with Smith. Those off-campus dorms such as Studio Green and Southgate Really aren’t that good.

Smith is VERY social. In years past they have had their own intramural teams, a team for dance marathon. A friend of my D who was selected as an RA REQUESTED Smith. Smith has a great reputation for it’s residents, despite the fact it is an older dorm. It is WAY BETTER than Southgate. I would stick with Smith, and you can always try the reassignment process.

I have a friend who is going to be at South Gate, which I heard is cool and it’s practically on campus next to the Sweet Shop and close to me at Wildwood. I think if I got a dorm which I wasn’t happy with I’d prefer to be in South Gate, that’s just my two-cents. It’s similar to being in a dorm because they have RA’s, and in the triple loft apartment you have your own room. They have typical resident halls where you share a room too.

If you are really serious, the only way to get out of the dorm contract is to try to get out early when there are students who did not get an assignment. Either stick with it and go through the reassignment process. Or call ASAP and see if you can get out of it. It is a signed contract and they make a bid deal that if you sign you are committed to taking a spot. But if you try to get out now while there are students waiting for a spot do it. But you can’t get out of it easily, and if you wait, you will be paying for the room whether you move in or not, and you will pay for both semesters.

PS the Sweet Shop has been closed/vacent for more than two years. There have been times someone paid to set up velvet Elvis rugs and things outside to sell, but since March of 08 it has been closed. Rumor has it someone bought it just recently. But I have not been on Jefferson to see if there is any movement or work being done.

“PS the Sweet Shop has been closed/vacent for more than two years”

True, but most people like my parents remember it and they’re 'Canes who have many Noles friends. I think it’s been around for awhile because I think they said it had another location first.

The Sweet Shop actually just recently opened in May right before the end of the semester. I noticed during finals week. I haven’t been inside so i don’t know much about it though.

If I have the priority number 3472 is there any chance I would be able to get a room in Wildwood it is my number one choice and I heard such great things about it! I also liked Degraff, Cawthon, Dorman, Deviney, and Kellum. I just really would love to stay at Wildwood does anyone think I will be able to get my number 1 choice???

No, I don’t think you will get first choice with that high of a number. Wildwood houses a total of about 700 students, but it is first choice for a lot of them.
