With the new acceptance rate, is there I chance that I can get in?

Hi everyone, I recently visited Tulane (loved it!), and it has now moved much higher on my list of potential colleges. However, I had felt pretty safe about it until I saw the 2008 admissions rate (only 27.7%). I'm really scared that I won't be accepted when I apply next year. Do I have a chance? Thanks!

You have the stats, but I'm not familiar where they're at on their admissions timetable. But most probably.

i dont see why u wudnt get in, honestly i dont

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/623727-chances-would-appreciated-chances-back.html

i got in and got the 24k presidential scholarship with similar academic stats and weaker E.C's. i did apply early action, though. i think you should be just fine.

24k with similar stats? I got only 20k with more + I'm LA native. :(

ah well

I am 100% sure you will get in if you improve your GPA a touch.

I got in with a 31 act, 10 writing score.
3.86 UW GPA.

My complete list of EC's:
Tennis team captain.

I didn't write any essays or anything, I did that weird priority applicant thing because they emailed me it about 500 times. I hadn't even considered atttending or even applying to Tulane, and now I am almost sure I am attending. I guess their persistence paid off.

You have extraordinary EC's in my opinion. I commend you on your hard work.

Friend got defered with exact same stats as you. I got in with a 33 act though.

Miktau... oh no. That sounds a little intimidating.

So I guess a scholarship is out of the question?

I think you'll get in. I got in with a weaker EC's, but my stats were a bit higher. Your EC's are truly stellar! Nice work and good luck!!

I think you'll be fine! I got in (and 20k) with similar stats. Actually, I had a lower SAT score (which I'm nearly positive is why I didn't get the 24k/honors) but I had a higher gpa around 3.9. Your ECs are AMAZING though. Just keep up the good work!

ellie. we are in the same boat i guess..too low standardized test scores.

bah why didnt i study for the freaking sat

Haha yeah. I'm actually really angry at myself for being too lazy and not bother taking the ACT. Most people I know say that they've scored much higher on it and that it's easier than the SAT.

Haha and yeah, I didn't study for the SAT either. My school offers this SAT prep class and I blew it off. My friends took it and got 2100+ haha. Well, they might've been smarter than me already.

It's standardized tests - I can't do them. I suck at multple choice and the SAT screws me over because I can't bring myself to skip a question, I feel like somehow I always have an "educated guess" lol

Eh, whatever. Life is what you make of yourself, not a stupid test. I'm really against them, but what can you do?

i mmeant ACT lol *

ive never studied for it..ive never cracked open a test prep booklet or done any practice tests.

im 100% positive if i did i could probably get 33+

do you know when regular decision hears? i applied early, and got deferred and was curious when i will find out

probably march 31st or so..im only assuming

On or before April 1st.

Which opens up the possibility of a truly mean April Fools...

Of course you'll get in.
My stats were nowhere near as good as that and I was admitted.
I didn't get any merit scholarships though; which you prob. will.

What are my chances of getting in/ getting scholarships if I applied yesterday...?

GPA is quite good (3.6+ UW) in all honors/AP at competitive private high school, top 10%, captain of sailing team, nhs, shs.

ACT/SAT scores?

Knew I was missing something...
