With these numbers, how hard is it gonna be for me to get into upper UC's?

<p>Asian, female. <-- :(
I'm a senior attending one of those schools in SoCal that's infamous for people complaining about the stress.
My father was diagnosed with cancer during my sophomore year and passed away last January. I am not proud to use this as an excuse for anything. Probably the most honest, un-whiniest thing I can say is that I didn't initially react to it as well as I could have.</p>

<p>I want to aim toward international business. At this point I'm really interested in careers overseas.</p>

<p>SAT I: 2080 <-- My October scores should be up tomorrow, so hopefully they'll be better than this.
SAT II: Math 2 750 / US History 790 / Literature 690 <-- Should I go through the trouble of taking this again on the December test date? Will it have been too late?
GPA: W4.21 UW3.46, unsure of UC GPA, and school does not rank</p>

And a bunch of stuff that doesn't count (politically active during 2008 elections, secretary of novel club for one year, artsy, speech+debate, cello, foreign language lessons outside of school)</p>

<p>Sounds like a match for UCI and UCD.</p>

<p>It’ll be a reach for UCLA and UCSD.</p>

<p>Your SAT score is borderline great for UCs. UCLA and UCSD need about 2100+</p>

<p>You do not need to retake your Literature. UCs only need 2 SAT II scores so just submit your Math II and USH.</p>

<p>Your extra curricular look pretty good.</p>

<p>If you still get around the same score for your SAT, just write a pretty good admissions essay and you should be golden.</p>

<p>It’s kind of hard though now due to admission cuts and budget cuts. It makes the UCs way more competitive than they were a few years ago. So just keep that in mind.</p>

<p>i’m sorry to hear about your father but i guess you can mention that a bit in your app since i believe that definitely had some impact on you(scores or personality or anything). you don’t have to see it as an alibi because it’s simply part of you that should be taken into consideration. my grandpa passed away last week also so that’s why i’m so affected by your situation. i’m applying to some UCs so we’re on the same boat. by the way, don’t put a sad face on your race and gender.</p>
