I'm going into my junior year
unweighted gpa around a 3.6~3.7.
full weighted gap around 4.2~4.4
3 APs 7 honors in 10th and 11th grade.
12 grade load of 4 APs and 1 honors.
SAT I scores a little over 1900 (based on the full length test I've taken with my SAT class. Also my teacher said that on the "real" SAT it should be 70~100 points higher. so that could bring me to about 2000 give or take.
SAT II scores around 700.

Extra curriculars-
badminton 3~4 years depending on whether I have time. 2 years JV and 1~2 years in Varsity.
Key Club-4 years with maybe 170+ hours of community service.
Make A Wish club for 3 years.
California scholorship federation for 4 years.
No club positions though, at least not yet.

Also I know that UCSD's science department is one of the best, but what are some of their other strengths.

If I raise my SAT score to maybe 2050+ do you think I can get into ucla?

UCLA's whack when it comes to admitting people, so I wouldn't count on just a high SAT score. I say start adding more ECs to put on your application, and also, it'd be awesome if you kept that high GPA. Honestly, nothing really jumps out at me when I look at your stats; but then again, you're only a junior...don't stress. Oh, and another thing I'd advise you to do is start thinking about your essays. I think that's what screwed me over, seeing as how I started writing them like maybe...2-3 days before the deadline? Haha.

The application is a joke. I should've kept my application confirmation just so I could get a good laugh at how the hell I got in considering my essays were rushed and full of BS.

NewSlang - We all know all the essays do is to allow the applicant to explain hardship so they can get more points. That's all it does and will ever do on the point scale like the one SD has. My friend wrote all 3 of her essays in like an hour or 2 ON the application website (no Word; spell check) AND only did the 1st and 3rd essay leaving the 2nd essay COMPLETELY BLANK. She got in with a 3.0<x>3.5 GPA! Her SAT scores was sub 1800 (not sure what her SAT 2's scores were though). EC? How bout soccer ONLY??!?! But what might got her in is that she had to take care of a child...not hers, her moms. She's could of easily had a higher GPA if she tried a little harder. SHE GOT IN. I don't think you guys have anything to worry about. </x>

She's a bright girl, but slacked off her first few years in high school. I'm not saying she shouldn't of been accepted to SD, but rather that people are getting too paranoid with WAY above AVG scores/EC's.

I can tell you right now that my scores/GPA a good amount lower than the thread starter and my EC were all not that great (4 years tennis, 4 years bakketball, 2 years volleyball, and 4 years key club) Nothing amazing by any means.

8888 and some more 8s, if you don't get accepted to SD then you are sure going to be accepted another, maybe more, prestigious colleges. And if you havn't read the article "Why Harvard Doesn't Matter", or something to that extent, you should.

Flame me, go ahead. It's only my opinion and it has been said millions of times already.

probably get in. i mean, i know lots of ppl who had worse stats across the board than what you have in just ur jr year for sd. for la, most likely, but again their grading critera is kinda off-key. dunno wat they're looking for. i got into la and a lot of my friends did with similar and a lil lower stats than urs.

Actually, taking a second look, your SAT I is are a bit low. Boost that up a little and you're ready to go conquer the world (not really but let's just say that).
