Withdraw After Deferral?

So, I applied Early Action to MIT and got deferred. However, I want to withdraw my application. How do I go about doing this?

Call them...and say you want to withdraw your app.

Why are you withdrawing? Being deferred doesn't mean you won't get in....

Is e-mail okay?

B/c of several reasons.

i got deferred too, so to everyone else who was deferred i recommend just giving up and withdrawing your applications ;)

lol I'm not giving up, I actually have a valid reason. But what do you say? How does it work? Has anyone done this before?

ive never (will not attempt either) done it. but i suppose you just email them. i think nowadays, an email can solve almost any problem.

First: To withdraw your application, call the staff. I imagine they will need to verify some information (using e-mail confirmation, social security number, etc.), and then they will terminate your application.

Having said that, I would urge you not to do so. Even if you get in, you can defer admission by a year or (with good reason) two years (so you can join the class of '12, '13, or '14). It really doesn't hurt to have the acceptance.

Best wishes in your coming endeavors, whatever they may be.

Ok, thanks everyone!

lol naugust, quoted for truth...I agree with you :-p

I think she is planning on going to Caltech or something like that since she got in there EA (according to the Caltech Forum)
but... yay!! one less deferred student i have to compete with XP

=P I agree with rainy.

naugust is right, what chance do we have? We should all just withdraw our apps :)
