Hi. I currently deciding whether or not I should withdraw from one of my classes. I am a sophomore math and economics major at a Top 15 college and have done well in my classes so far (3.8 GPA). However, I am having a lot of trouble with one of my math classes this quarter (it focuses around writing formal proofs). The final exam is next week but I am debating whether or not to withdraw from the course before the exam. If I stick with the course I will likely get a C or C+ which will bring my GPA down to roughly 3.7. I feel like it would really stink to see my GPA go down 0.1 just from one bad class. I could retake it next quarter and try to get a better grade. The class is required for my math major so I would have to take it at some point. However, the class is a real pain in the ass and is extremely time consuming and I definitely would not like to have to take it again. Also I may not get a better grade if I take it again. Plus getting a W on my transcript would look bad. What do you think I should do? I am planning on possibly becoming an actuary or go into some other kind of business after college (maybe get an MBA) and I would just like some advice about what you think I ought to do. I am kind of stressed about making the decision so I would appreciate some outside input. Thanks.
