Withdraw from a semester after it ended?

Long story short, I was robbed of the college experience at my old school. I essentially took classes but wasn’t allowed to do anything else other than sit in my room and work out. My grades were fine, I just absolutely hated the culture. I’m now trying to enroll at my dream school, but they are forcing me to be admitted as a transfer despite applying as a freshman, which makes sense, but I just want to go to the school as if I had never went to my first one. Also, if I get admitted as a transfer, I will only get 2 years of financial aid as opposed to 4 as a freshman.

I just hate my old school and want to act like I never went there, but this is seeming like it’s not a possibility.

You are required to have earned 24 credits to be considered a transfer student. If I would have know this, I would have dropped out of my last school right before the semester ended so I could be a freshman. Is it possible for me to somehow disenroll or act like I had never finished my last semester? My current school is asking for transcripts. I just don’t know what to do.

I’m sorry you didn’t like your previous school. But you can’t pretend you never attended college when you have 2 years of passing grades so you can qualify for freshman grants and 4 years of financial aid. Colleges will be able to see which colleges you attended (and for how long) on the National Clearinghouse. Students who “act like they never finished” could be expelled or have their degree rescinded. And any grants they received would revert to loans.

What you can do is look for an affordable school that you might enjoy attending. If you tell us your budget and major maybe we could suggest options.

You cannot wipe out your first college experience and start over. You must apply as a transfer student. End of story.

I spent a while searching and couldn’t find my school listed in the Clearinghouse, so maybe they aren’t a part of it?

The college/university that has accepted you knows that you were enrolled this final semester because that was listed in your application. Stop looking for a work around.

Whether you are at college/university #2 for two years or three years or four years will depend on how your credits transferred. Federal financial aid limits are not set at four years. Pell money is available for a certain number of total semesters, and federal loans are set at a certain total amount. Institutional aid generally will be extended until you complete your degree provided there is a good reason why it took you that amount of time to finish.

So have a meeting with the financial aid office, and find out what their policies are.
