Withdraw From Major class

Hi I'm a senior at UPenn. I'm thinking about withdrawing from a class since I'm headed for a C or so. The problem is, its a very time intensive course and the grades in my other courses are suffering because of it. It's a major class however it's not required so I could just replace the class with another one from my major. What are you inputs? This will be my first withdrawal and I currently have a very good gpa 3.7+.

My dream also is to go to a top 5 MBA school. Would a W ruin my chances?

I don’t think one W would ruin your chances. My son had one W on his transcript in college and got into a top grad program in his field (he had mono and fell too far behind to catch back up but the grad school never even came to him to ask why he had the W). And you probably know, but most top MBA programs want students to have a few years of meaningful work experiences (as well as top GMATs) before they are really considered for the program.

Am I the only one that thinks this sounds a bit fishy? The OP is supposedly a student at UPenn and wonders how a W would affect MBA admissions. Wharton, right there on campus, is one of the best business schools in the country and has counselors that would be happy to answer questions. He just has to walk over. And as a student at one of the best colleges in the country, Upenn, there are advisors galore for undergrads.

Yet the OP decides the best way to get an answer is to post the question on the internet and collect anonymous replies. Hmmm…
