Withdraw or suck it up for the rest of the semester?

Hello,

I am a freshmen in college. While almost everyone else is on Summer break, I still have to go to school for my spring semester (which finishes in August, so we only get about two weeks of summer vacation). I am currently applying for a transfer (to change my major), If I were to get accepted by the schools that I want to transfer to, should I finish the rest of the semester or would I be able to withdraw from school without it affecting my decision? (I already have 30 credits which is the minimum for most of the schools I applied to) When I finish my spring semester I would have 45, but the thing is, I feel as if those credits this semester wouldn’t matter if I’m changing my major. I wanted to transfer because I am quite unhappy in my current school and honestly, the school environment has been affecting me mentally and emotionally and I just need some advice on whether or not I should suck it up and finish the semester in August, or if I were to get accepted, withdraw from the school half way? (The deadline to withdraw is week 12 and we are currently on week 6)

(also I know I could just talk to my advisor which im planning to do but I just thought some advice from others would be helpful too  ) also, I know im pretty much repeating myself but I already typed it soo… lol

Heres the thing, you probably already paid for them and if that’s the case, I would recommend just pushing through. However, if you feel as if you will get bad grades in those courses, then yes, withdraw. Also, a lot of colleges require electives and such or a certain amount of credits in order to graduate so you might as well finish the classes even if they don’t apply to the major you’re switching to.

@TransferGuy08 Thank you for your reply

When you apply for transfer admission, you include the courses in progress (and/or projected to take before enroling at the new place) in the application. Any changes, or any really bad grades, can be cause for rescinding your admission offer. So, if you do want to drop the classes, go ahead and do that, but let your target institutions know about it sooner rather than later.

Why did you enroll at all for this term if you were just going to be taking classes that aren’t relevant for the new major? It would have made better sense to take a leave of absence and get a job.

Where are you applying that you haven’t heard back yet? Typically students seeking to xfer in the Fall would have heard by now.
