I am currently a SMC student, hoping to go to UCLA,
how many W's do you think is allowed to get into UCLA?
I heard less than 4 or 3.
the Lesser the better.
Please let me know..Im really nervous because of this right now!!

<p>s4ivi124- Do you know if it's best to make up for the EXACT same course? For instance, I took a business stats course (which fulfills the stats prereq for Haas) and I ended up getting a W in the class. If I take elementary stats which also fulfills the prereq, is this fine?</p>
<p>j_k you HAVE to take the same course, not to mention from the same school as the original one. My girlfriend who lived with me and recieved a W in the cc we went to moved down to Santa Cruz and could not even take the exact same class there to make it up. She ending up have to simultaniously re-enroll at our old cc and take it online while she was taking classes there too to make it up. The format you take it doesn't have to be the same...ie in-class you CAN then take online.</p>
<p>Hm... I never really heard of that before. I don't think it would really hurt my chances if I just take the elementary stats course, would it? If it helps at all, I took the biz stats course the summer after 10th grade when I didn't even plan on going to CC.</p>
<p>well it's not like you got a D or an F that you need to retake for gpa purposes...If the rest of ur grades are strong I wouldn't worry about a few W's. i just mean in terms of if you want the w replaced</p>

<p>Lot of misinformation here. It doesn't matter how many W's you have as long as you complete your 90 units, major pre-reqs, etc. There's lots of threads that can attest to this, just search for them. <p>It honestly doesn't matter. I had something like 7 W's and I still got accepted by UCLA. Just make sure you explain them when you apply for admission. In my case, I got most of them early on at my CC so I just explained that I was learning how to balance school and work at the same time. Don't stress. Oh and by the way, you don't have to make up the courses either. I only re-took maybe one or two of the courses I dropped.</p>

<p>and i had 19W (made up all but 7- but mainly b/c i had to in order to complete iGETC + major preqs, not because i was trying to make them up)</p>

<p>All they do when they view your transcript is cross out all the Ws and non UC transferable courses, they dont look at them at all.</p>

<p>Just stop freaking out about it...it's already been said many times that a few W's aren't going to kill your chances. If you don't end up getting in then it's because of other circumstances.</p>

<p>I am an English major, which is an impacted major at UCLA. Dude, stop worrying about it. You can't change the past so just try to do your best for the future. A few W's is nothing.</p>
