I was deferred from BC, but accepted to Cornell so I have to withdraw my app. What is the best way to do it? Do I just call?

Wow, you were deferred from BC, but were accepted at Cornell? How did that happen?

I heard something a few weeks ago about that...Sometimes if your stats are too high, schools recognize that they are your safety school. And then they don't accept you because they want their ratio of accepted students to students that are actually coming to be really high to make the school look good.

Boston College was specifically mentioned in this post: this kid had like a 1530 and awesome awesome stats and got in at some crazy school, and was flat out rejected from BC. Just something that i thought was really interesting.... whether or not it is actually true!!! Who knows!

Yeah, schools do that sometimes, it makes them look better, and gives them higher yield.

To answer your question - you should call the admissions office to notify them ASAP. They will tell you what the procedure is - you may need to send a letter so that they have your withdrawl in writing.
