I was accepted to my ED school, and now I must withdraw my remaining applications to other schools. I've only completed applications to 3 schools besides my ED school, and I've been accepted to all of them. I still need to withdraw those apps, right?

I've my transcripts to about 6 other schools just in case I got rejected to my ED school, but that was all I sent. Should I still contact those schools to withdraw my apps, or should I just let it go since they aren't complete anyways?

Also, since it's the holiday break, many of these schools are closed. Would it be best to contact the office of admissions by phone, or is email okay? I just want to make sure I do this right!

Don’t worry about the transcripts you sent. For withdrawing from the other schools, just send a quick email. For example, here’s an email I sent to withdraw one (after getting deferred EA). Just mention that you were accepted ED to a different school, it happens all the time.

Hi,

I appreciate your consideration of my application during the Early Action round, but I would like to withdraw from the Regular Decision cycle.

You are supposed to withdraw from all other colleges to which you have applied. Sending a transcript to a college does not mean you have applied. As to when you must withdraw, colleges don’t actually say how fast you must do it and waiting until next week is undoubtedly fine. Best way to withdraw is via letter in the mail to the applicable admissions office of the college. You could also do it by email although if the college email address gets hundreds of emails per day (highly possible), there is some risk it could be overlooked. It is better that you don’t do it by phone (what you want is a written record to prove you have done it and that won’t exist if done by phone).
