I just got accepted to the University of Pennsylvania, and I'd like to know how I am supposed to go about withdrawing my applications at other schools. I've already sent in my completed Berkeley app, as well as recommendations and school reports to a bunch of other schools (Stanford, P'ton, Amherst, Williams, Swarthmore, Columbia, NYU, Northwestern and Dartmouth)...for the schools that just received recommendations, do I even bother notifying them that they won't be receiving any more materials from me? And who do I contact in the red tape mess that is Berkeley?

LOL. Contrats on your acceptance.

Well, S didn't know what to do about that either so he a wrote letter to the Admissions offices at each school...with identifying info in the reference line (full name, ss# or ID# if you have one) and something like "Dear_, I have been accepted through early decision to ___University and hereby officially withdraw my application for Fall of 200X from ____________ University. Thank you so much for your consideration in the meantime, and best wishes for a great class of 200X." He sent them certified, return receipt, kept copies, and figured UC's red tape was UC's problem, he did his job. That was six years ago and so far no one has complained.
