Withdrawing apps?

Yes, I realized there are other posts about this elsewhere on CC but I just wanted to ask a few other thigns regarding withdrawing other apps, since I got into Penn ED.

From what I've gathered, it's just a matter of emailing/calling the admissions office and letting them know, but (this may be a stupid question) does it matter if you just withdraw in a mass email to your other colleges? (BCCing all of them of course, but it'll still show that the recipients are undisclosed) and does it have to be the admissions person for your region or just admissions in general? Thanks!

edit:
(and if anyone knows, does declining admission count as withdrawing an application? I got into UT Austin automatically due to my class rank and they've already accepted me, just not under a specific major yet)

Same question here. And also, what do you write?

I got into Case Western today with a ton of merit scholarship money offered and I’m afraid that it’s going to be a problem that I didn’t immediately withdraw my app, but I didn’t know how.

I’m just planning on writing something along the lines of:

“Please note that I am officially withdrawing my application for the incoming Class of 2017, I was accepted by my ED school, and must withdraw. Thank in for your consideration. Sincerely, me, Common App ID: ###”

I found this on CC, and it had SSN instead, but I didn’t give my social to all the schools I applied to. Don’t forget to withdraw from schools that you didn’t finish your app for either! Apparently those count too!

Can you just delete your common app and that counts? Because i’ve sent nothing, just opened up an app.

Congrats on Penn ED! I just got into Penn as well. Here’s what I wrote to my three EA colleges:

"Hello,

Earlier this week, I was accepted under an Early Decision binding contract to the University of Pennsylvania. For this reason, I would like to ask that my INSERTSCHOOLHERE application be withdrawn at this time. I look forward to hearing from friends all of the wonderful things happening in the future at INSERTSCHOOLHERE, and wish you and the school the absolute best for the coming year of applicants.

Best,

What do we do for schools we were accepted to already after we were accepted to penn? I don’t know what to write to Case Western…

Just email each other school saying you won’t be attending. The words don’t matter; they just want to know. :)

Ahh mk, that sounds like the way to go then, already sent off my emails! I’m just iffy on what to do for UT…(like with hurricansandy and Case Western)

It’s business communication – not breaking up w/a GF or BF – no further words are needed/necessary. Just let them know you are withdrawing the app. Simple.
