so we just basically write letters to each of those schools and just ask them to withdraw our apps? O.o Or do we have to call them also?

Do you mean if you partially completed the application and don't want to finish it b/c you decided you didn't want to apply? Or it's in completely but you just changed your mind? I didn't think you had to do anything...But I would call the admissions office just to make sure.

for both of them...i sent in completed apps and partially completed apps already...so do i just write letters to withdraw them or should i also call them?

No need to call. You should write letters to each school that you have sent any application materials to (or your school has sent stuff to). Send the letter, but also it is smart to send an email too. The sooner you do this the better for the other schools.

Do we have to withdraw applications for the colleges that we applied to, i mean personally spent so much time on each one of them and was wondering if I can merit atleast a response and later refuse to go?

If it's not an issue of withdrawing due to your acceptance at an ED school, you don't have to withdraw your applications. You may change your mind between now and April.

ok, =( back to this topic...what exactly do we need to put on the emails and letters in order to confirm our identity and the letter's validity?

LifeofPie - if you have been admitted to a binding Early Decision school like Johns Hopkins then you MUST withdraw your applications to all other schools that you have applied to or started to apply to. This is part of the ED agreement that you signed when you applied ED.

The reason you must withdraw is that if you keep your application active with no intention of enrolling (b/c you are committed to your ED school) then you will be taking a spot away from other qualified applicants. What "Chedva" said is not correct -- if you have been admitted ED then you are committed and therefore you can not weigh offers from other schools. There is an ethical line involved here, and you do not want to cross it.

darkhope -- include your full name, birth date, SS# (if applicable) and high school when sending messages to withdraw your application. It may also be helpful to detail what parts of the application you may have already submitted for each school.
