Withdrawing from a class - please help!

I'm seriously considering withdrawing from Biology 1108 and retaking it this summer. The class just isn't going well for me right now. Due to a couple bad quizzes I've lost a good number of points, around 150, and if I lose 130 more I won't be able to make a B in the class. I know that sounds like a pretty decent cushion, but I honestly don't know if it's going to be enough. I went into the last quiz feeling pretty good about it, even left feeling pretty good about it, but when I got it back I only got a 90/140! That was the class average, so it's not like I slacked off, but that's still a pretty awful grade dragging me down. And now I'm afraid the same thing will happen on the next couple quizzes. This is the first class where I've ever felt that if I put forth my absolute best effort, studied my brains out, it still might not be enough. And now I just don't know what to do.

The withdrawal deadline is Thursday. There's a quiz on Wednesday, but I'm not prepared for it. I'd be studying for it right now, but I also have an English paper and organic chemistry lab writeup due tomorrow, along with a biology research article due Thursday. All of those assignments are just as important as this test, so I can't just throw them aside to study for the quiz!

ETA: Should probably also add that the quiz is worth 140 points, and there's two of them. The finals worth 230 (I think) and our grades for bio lab also affect our grades in lecture. So all together on 2 quizzes, a final, and all assignments in lab I can't lose more than 130 points to keep at least a B.

The thing is, I'm really worried about what a withdrawal will look like on my record. I'm a sophomore at UGA, and this will be my first time withdrawing from a class. I'd stick it out, but I really can't afford another C dragging down my GPA. I slacked off a little last year and ended up with a 2.3. This year's going a lot better, with the exception of Biology. I think if I weren't taking it I'd be well on my way to getting back HOPE scholarship (you need a minimum 3.0 GPA).

So I guess that's where the decision comes in. Would it be worse to drop the course now and take it over the summer, and have that on my record? Or risk getting a C in the class, bring down my GPA even more, and take it again over the summer anyways?

Thanks so much if you made it through that, and any advice would be really appreciated.

Is it really too late to get at least a B in that class?
I think you should not give up. It will only get harder. Besides, what is the probability that you will not withdraw from your other science classes on the next semesters? You could have taken other classes in the summer. Why study the same class in 2 semesters, right? Work hard now, not later! Do what you can to at least get a B.

you will be leaving a lot of classes mid semester with this policy.

I don’t know if this will be helpful or not–neighbor’s daughter (pre med) wasn’t doing well in her chem class–a large lecture–because she had not been well prepared in high school. She withdrew from the class so as not to hurt her grade.

However, even after withdrawing, she continued to attend the class–professor never knew anyway. And she arranged with her TA (she had become friends with her because she had consistently gone for help the first half of the semester) to continue to attend the discussion section and do the labs, although obviously not for a grade.

She then registered for the class again the next semester and this time did quite well because it was the second time around. But to do what she did takes a lot of time and commitment.
