I'm a senior with a ~3.5 GPA and above a 3.6 in all of my majors (I have 3, somehow). I'm taking 4 major classes, and one gen ed, an art course. This course takes up over 9 hours of my week, and I don't think I'll be able to achieve higher than a B in it. I don't mind taking 18 credits next semester, but I am concerned at how it will look.

Is it a really poor choice to withdraw from a class senior year? If I submit all of my applications by the end of this semester, it shouldn't even factor into schools' immediate decision. I have relevant work experience, and I'm really involved at school, in organizations dealing with my majors. Frankly, I have no interest in continuing this class, and would rather work on my thesis and applications. Is this an incredibly bad decision?

My second question is this: I have a D in a course that is in my major. If you look at my transcript, it is an obvious and immediate outlier. Should I bother explaining it? Or will bringing it up just draw attention to it?

The field I'm applying to is relatively under saturated, in comparison to some of the IR, comp sci, etc fields. I'm not terribly concerned, but a little feedback would be great.
