I am currently taking 20 units and there is this one course that is really killing me.

That course is Discrete Mathematics. The thing about this course that is killing me is the time that it is during the day (at night) which leaves me with a huge gap on Monday and Wednesday and because of this class I also get home very late (at 9 PM).

Also since I am taking this course at a community college, there are these four guys who have experience with programming and are several years older than your average college student. These guys are smart and are always correcting the teacher on the board and often see new things that I just don't see.

Will a 'W' hurt me? I mean I can take the class next Spring when I wont be taking too many important classes...

See this class isn't required for my major at Berkeley but it is required for my backup major at UCLA. It shouldn't hurt me when I apply to Berkeley then right?

Oh and everyone in that class has taken up to Calculus III!

I also forgot to mention that I don't understand a lot of the things that are going on! And I have a test tomorrow and don't have the book yet!

w's hurt, but bombing this class will hurt you more, right? even if you worked super-hard to not fail, do you think your other classes would suffer?

I think if I continue to stay at school very late (especially between a HUGE hour gap between the previous class, Calculus I, and the proceeding class, Discrete Math) that I will begin to go into a deep depression.

I feel as if I am barely home and yeah I think if I were to go home much earlier that I'd do my homework just fine. My dad doesn't like me going out during the weekends without my homework being done and I think I'd be able to finish it before the weekend if I had the time to do it at home during the week.

I am also not feeling well right now. I am starting to feel depressed. I think I may just drop this class.

But I'm not sure. There are three tests during the semester and our teacher told us the lowest one gets dropped. So if I bomb tomorrow's test I can still get a good grade. But the real question is will I be able to catch up later on enough to ace the other two tests.

One W will not hurt you that much. If you give a good reason for it, they might overlook it.

However, it kind of depends on what your grades are like. If you're holding a 3.8+ or something, and this might bring you down a LOT (like a C or lower in the class), I'd drop it. 20 units (if it's the same as credits) is tough.

what is your current gpa
how many Ws do you have
you plan on transferring for next fall? as in fall 08 ??? or fall07

If you withdraw you do have to notify the respective schools, so i suggest you notify after decisions are made and withdraw at a later date if you already applied and are waiting for admission to falll07

If this is your first W, well, NO ONE CARES! you do no need to explain 1 W.

People need to stop this constant freak out about Ws. SO you withdrew, what is the big deal, if its not excessive, the UCs do not really care .

if your transferring for 08, just withdraw and forget about it.

if your transferring for 07 and witing on decisions now, withdraw after decisions come out and then inform schools.
