Withdrawing from a yearlong course. How will it affect me?

I'm taking Arabic, hate it, and want to drop it. How will it affect me if I take a W on my transcript? I plan on going to grad school in philosophy, and Arabic will NOT be a research language for me. Is this going to hurt me?

I currently have an A in the class, but I find myself feeling more and more lost everyday, even though I continue to do well. It just doesn't seem worth it to me to take a class that I know I won't continue with later (I will never go on to intermediate level), and not only is the class every day of the week, but it's really frustrating with daily homework and constant drilling, etc. I'm taking six classes, and the other 5 in total take up half of my work day, Arabic being the other half.

What will Grad Admissions think if I drop? I don't want to have to stick with Arabic until May.

If its making you miserable you should drop it regardless of grad schools will think. I have no idea how grad schools will look at it, but I am sure it wont matter that much. Its not like its required for your major or anything. But you definitely dont want to be miserable for the entire school year.

A graduate admissions committee will not even notice one W on a transcript.

Three or four? We’ll notice.
