How does dropping a course affect your chances of getting into an elite school like harvard? I asked this question on the Columbia forum as well, but I haven’t received any replies so I apologize if any of you guys see the repeat

Depends on if it shows up on your transcript or not. For my school if you drop within 1st and 3rd quarter its not gonna show up but if you drop past the deadline you get a F on your transcript for that class. If it doesnt colleges will never know you were even in that class so you should be good as long as you still have a rigorous schedule.

Why are you dropping it? If you have a good reason, the guidance counselor can explain it in a note with the transcript. If you are overloaded, that is a good enough reason. Enjoy senior year.
It also depends on which AP class it is and your intended major. If you are going into a science field and are looking to drop a language, english or history course the college will be less concerned about you dropping it if you have a full course load. You don’t say if you are completely dropping the course or if you are planning to move from AP to regular.
