i was accepted to bu’s honors college on early decision. bu wrote in their literature that accepted students MUST withdraw from colleges that have accepted you, as well as the ones you are waiting for still, by february 24th. i do plan on withdrawing from all the other colleges i was accepted to, but are there any legitimate (legal) consequences if i don’t withdraw by the end of the day (today is the 24th)?
No legal consequences (ED contracts aren’t legally binding), but you certainly don’t want BU or any of the other schools to find out that you have an ED acceptance and haven’t withdrawn your apps and/or declined your spot at schools that have accepted you.
Remember also that your GC and parents both signed the ED agreement as well…you especially wouldn’t want to jeopardize your GC’s relationship with BU, would you?
Why wouldn’t you withdraw? You are holding up a slot that could go to another student. It could also have ramifications for future students from your HS if you don’t abide by the ED rules. Do the right thing and be ethical.
Have you accepted your BU spot, and paid the deposit?
While there are no legal ramifications if BU finds out that you have not withdrawn your other applications they could rescind your acceptance.
@momofsenior1 i literally said in the original post that i am going to withdraw from every school i applied to other than bu. i just was asking if there are legal ramifications if i dont withdraw by the end of today, which is the day that bu said i must withdraw from other schools by. i wanted to know if it was okay if i withdrew from two schools tomorrow, or the day after, rather than today. you missed the entire point of this post. next time read what i’m asking. and about the last part you wrote on “doing the right thing” and “being ethical…” chill out. i’m a student. i get it

@Mwfan1921 wasnt really asking that. i was really asking if i absolutely have to withdraw by the end of today, which is when bu said i must withdraw by, or whether i can withdraw tomorrow night instead. i was planning on withdrawing everywhere since day one if i was accepted to bu
If you plan to withdraw, why wouldn’t you withdraw on time? I don’t understand why you’re asking this question.
If BU rescinds your acceptance, what college will you attend instead? And how will that affect your premed plans?
