Withdrawing from UCI and applying for readmission

I want to withdraw from UCI for about a year and then reapply for readmission when I feel I can come back.

I'm a recent transfer so this fall 2011 quarter is my first quarter. I want to withdraw by winter or spring quarter 2012 at the latest. Is it possible to just reapply for readmission to UCI when I decide to come back or do I have to go through the whole transfer process again?

I've looked at the policies for withdrawal and readmission at UCI and it seems that I can; I just have to file forms for withdrawal and readmission.

I'm just unclear whether I'm allowed to since I only took one quarter here and if the units I've taken for that quarter will still be there when I decide to come back.

Thanks in advance for the advice!

It sounds like if you just attend one day, you can reapply for re-admission. However, I would go to whatever your school your major is in, or the major you will wish to be in and talk to their counselors about it and how likely it will be to be able to be re-admitted. Since I doubt withdrawal is supposed to be taken lightly / something you should look at as if you will automatically be readmitted.

they can put you on “sabbatical leave” and its much easier to get back when you are ready. I think there is $20 cost for quarter to do it
