Withdrawing SIR's

I don't know if this post has to do with this specific sub-forum but I have a question regarding withdrawing a SIR from UC Merced.

So I got accepted to my 2nd choice school UC Merced but waitlisted at Cal Poly Pomona. Pomona is my #1 school and they might release more spots after May 1st. My counselor told me to commit to Merced as of right now. But I'm just confused on withdrawing the SIR or if it's even possible. So if I hear from Pomona and I got accepted, is it possible to withdraw the SIR from Merced and commit to Pomona?

It is. Even if you don’t withdraw, Merced is not going come after you to register with them.

You can, you’ll just lose your enrollment deposit if you choose not to attend.

Of course you can. Its what anyone who gets accepted off of a waitlist will do. As pointed out, your deposit will likely be lost.
