withdrew from high school due to illness, will this affect my college admissions?

Hi,
So I was an international student from China who went to a private boarding school in the US. During the last few weeks of my sophomore year in high school, I was hospitalized due to a severe case of kidney stones and had to have it removed surgically (which required weeks of recovery time in the hospital). My parents (who lived in China) decided to withdraw me from school immediately and let me come back to China to operate because of the high costs (I did not have Medical Insurance) and also because I was alone. Therefore, I wasn’t able to finish my second semester of my sophomore year. However, after making a full recovery I attended an International school locally where American education was provided, and I was able to double up my classes to make up for the credit required to graduate. My question is, will this experience affect my chances of getting accepted by colleges? I described the whole situation in my common app questions and my college counselor told me that he’ll address this in the counselor’s letter as well. I have fairly good grades and did pretty well on my standardized tests. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks a lot!

I doubt it’ll affect you. It seems like you did everything in your power to fix it, especially considering you and your counselor explained it.

Shouldn’t be an issue. You don’t need to do anything other than explain your situation and have the counselor letter to verify it.

thanks so much!
