WKCR-FM: one of the finest radio stations in the country

I just dropped by this board to see what, if anything, there was about Columbia's radio station, WKCR-FM, only to find that there's almost nothing at all.

That's a shame. This radio station (which can be accessed on-line) is an absolute jewel -- one of the very best radio stations in the country, in terms of the breadth of their musical programming, the musical intelligence of their hosts, etc.

They're currently in the midst of a long Benny Goodman marathon, in connection with the centenary of his birthday, but will return to their regular programming after that (and in the meantime you could do a whole lot worse than to listen for hours on end to the great BG and the myriad different musical settings in which he performed).

WKCR 89.9 FM NY

(P.S. At the moment, they seem to be having some technical problems with their web site; if you run into a problem, try "reloading" [or whatever the term is]. And if that doesn't work, well, just try again later.)

P.P.S. If you’re having trouble accessing this station via its web site, another route to it, if you operate in the Mac/iTunes world, is through its link at iTunes via the Radio (then College/University) file. (And, I suppose, there may be something similar available for those who don’t use a Mac.)

Wow… this is awesome. It makes me want to go to Columbia even more. I’m a huge fan of Radio.
