Can anyone give me more information about this? I wasn't really seriously considering WM before getting accepted today, but full tuition and fees for four years is pretty enticing. It seems like its for minorities because the site says it's "available to 20-25 entering students who will bring diversity to the student body." Thanks for the info!

prepstax3,

Did your letter offer you full tuition? Thanks

Yeah, it did actually. I was just wondering if anyone else on here got it or knew more about it.

That's great. My son was accepted today. We are in California and his acceptance has a scholarship equal to full cost of in-state tuition, which is about $9100/yr. He was also accepted into the Monroe scholars program. Is there an advantage to this program?

guitars101, I think your son and I got the same scholarship. I just happen to view it as full tuition because I'm instate. I don't know much about Monroe perks, except you do get first dibs on dorms in Monroe Hall and priority in choosing classes freshman year. They also give $3000 for research before senior year.

prepstax,

Thanks and congratulations! Wow, full tuition is great for you. He will have to consider all of his options before making a decision, even though W&M is one of his favorites.

I got the Monroe Scholars letter but didn't see any scholarship.. where would it be if it were there?

Monroe Scholars do not get scholarship money.

Then what's with the scholarships mentioned above? [I was unaware that W&M did merit scholarships]

^ Thanks (10 char)

The Monroe scholars Program and the scholarship which I referenced above are two different things. We are oos and my son recvd both the in-state tuition amount ($9100/yr) and the Monroe Scholars Program.

Yeah same with me, sorry for the confusion. There was so much more literature on the Monroe Scholars than the WM Scholars, so I was just wondering. Guitars101, congrats on your son's awards!

Hey, i got the WM scholars acceptance today as well. It was pretty exciting, congradulations to all!

prepstax3,

Thank you. Congratulations to you as well! Good luck with the rest of your acceptances and enjoy the process of choosing. You earned it. You kids today are so much more prepared and smarter than we were so long ago :)
