Who else has this song stuck in their head?

You’ve been possessed by the devil :P

ME. ever since I downloaded that damn album off Amazon! I feel like it’s the only song worth listening to off the ENTIRE album though…

“Born this Way” sucks. It’s all about “The Fame Monster”

Nah, Gaga’s studio records are crap. She ripped that song’s name off the 70s and 80s heavy metal band Judas Priest LOL:
““I’ve had lots of ex-boyfriends betray me — a**holes, we all have them — and in particular there was one who loved Judas Priest, loved heavy metal,” said Gaga.”

She is actually okayish to moderately good live when she plays her pieces acoustically.
[url=<a href=“- YouTube”>- YouTube]YouTube - [HD] Lady GaGa - Poker Face Acoustic Version (Live @ 95.8 Capital FM Radio)/url. She’s actually playing the piano and accompanied by real instruments and musicians, not computerized electronic beats and not with her voice auto-tuned like crazy.

But even then, her music is very simplistic, easy, and commercialized, just like most mainstream popular music. Too bad music ain’t what it used to be in the 60s when actual talented bands like Zeppelin, Hendrix Experience, The Who, Eric Clapton, Elvis, Beatles, Rolling Stones, dominated the airwaves. Too bad music ain’t what it used to be between the 20s and 70s when jazz, a very technical form of music that required tremendous and tremendous talent was popular. And don’t get me started on the 19th century with classical music…

I have to agree (with stevenboi). Alejandro and Bad Romance (RAH RAH AH AH AH AHHH) never fail me.

edit: Anyone see this kid before? <a href=“Greyson Chance Singing Paparazzi (Lady Gaga) - YouTube”>Greyson Chance Singing Paparazzi (Lady Gaga) - YouTube;

@jimmi- wasn’t Zeppelin super popular in the 70s? not 60s? lol? And I agree, Judas Priest rocks. Early 60s-mid 80s heavy metal like Ozzy, Iron Maiden, Motorhead, Van Halen, Black Sabbath, Dio, Megadeth and Metallica were the bomb…when they incorporated ridiculous screaming and gore/satanic lyrics into the genre afterwards, it went downhill.

I don’t think Gaga is particularly talented (in absolute terms, pretty much no commercial pop artist can match the music prowess and genius of professional classical or jazz musicians, and in some cases, progressive rock musicians), but her music is very catchy. I like Bad Romance and Pokerface

@gobears-
Yeah, my bad, Zep in the 70s. Such a good decade for innovation in rock n roll, esp prog rock: Queen, Pink Floyd, Rush, Kansas, Edgar Winter Group, Joan Jett, Judas Priest (well they’re early metal, but they certainly were on the progressive edge with odd time signatures, shred solos, high pitched operatic singing, ect…)

I would also add that traditional ethnic music (Indian Classical, Korean traditional, ect.) is also very complex and intricate.

Is about time a lady gaga post surface here in college confidential. lol. In my opinion, I am quite disappointed with Gaga’s Born this way Album. I must admitted, she has some great song - such as *Born this way/i, Hair, Edge of Glory, Judas, You and I. But other songs in the album kinda just sounds the same to me - similar heavy beats and a repetition of words in the chorus.

I felt that The fame monster has a lot more interest varieties in addition to the billboard hits Bad Romance, telephoneand Alejandro. There were Dance in the dark, Monster, speechless, teeth.

But i still absolutely love her originality and the absolute stunning visual aspect of her performance.

I like Gaga’s live acoustic performances. That girl can sing, and she can play the piano too. She sounds very bluesy and jazz influenced live, a cool mix of jazz, blues, and pop. I love it when she belts too, so powerful.

But I generally have a distaste for her studio recordings. They auto-tune her voice, replace the real instruments with electronic sounds, and have very, very repetitive, boring lyrics :(

She’s much better than that. Hopefully she’ll leave this trend and will start releasing some acoustic albums. She’ll be brilliant and be more widely respected by musicians.

I admired her very much during “The Fame” and “The Fame Monster” eras. She was actually fresh and exciting back then. Those two albums actually had catchy songs. The songs on “Born This Way” are just plain annoying. Only a few are worth listening to. Her sense of fashion was unique and interesting back then when she was still new on the scene. Now, it just seems like she is trying too hard to be eccentric. I am bored of her acts. No longer a little monster.

@gobears-

Lol, I think Slash of Guns N’ Roses once said, “the reason why so much pop music has become electronic is because real acoustic instruments bring about the inconvenience of actually needing musical talent”

The sad thing is, Gaga does have the talent to play acoustically. But it seems she wants to go along with the hype and follow the traditional, rehashed, overdone song structure of modern pop to make money (if she doesn’t, then her corporate executives definitely do). Even though she may have an innovate and borderline eccentric sense of fashion, her music is by no means innovative. I think it could be so, if she was willing to step out of the “safe” bounds of pop music and play acoustically.

I like ‘you and i’ haha and got the album off of amazon too haha

lol you could overlap the three Judas hooks and get a near-perfect chord match with the corresponding hooks in Bad Romance. try it in your head.

woah woah woah woah woah I’m in love with Juda-as, Juda-s/oh oh oh oh oh… caught in a bad romance

judas juda-a-as, judas juda-a-as/rah rah ah ah ah, roma roma ma…

i’m just a holy fool, oh baby he’s so cruel, but i’m still in love with judas baby/i want your love and i want your revenge, you and me (ungrammatical!!) could write a bad romance

Yeah, her new album Born This Way is not that good. Except for a few songs like Heavy Metal Lover, it’s mostly skippable.

$1 album is worth it though. Yay Amazon! :D

@meakame

I completely agree. But in my opinion, it seems like it’s a deliberated attempt for Gaga to evoke/allude to Bad Romance. Cause after all, isn’t Judas essentially talking about a Bad Romance?

I liked The Fame Monster (which is technically not an album, its an EP) best

Other than Judas, Government Hooker, Electric Chapel, Schei

Not to hijack this thread, but Jimmihendrix was correct. Led Zeppelin started in the '60’s when the Yardbirds (a personal favorite of mine – listen to “For Your Love” – when Eric Clapton played lead guitar) disbanded. '68 to be exact, and their first album came out in January, 1969 as they were touring the states. They played three nights at the Whisky A Go Go in January, 1969 and again two nights in May, 1969 at the Santa Monica Civic. They didn’t make it to Berkeley until August, 1969 (at the Community theatre, where they played again in 1971), but did play 4 nights at the Fillmore West in S.F. in January and twice more in April at the Fillmore West as well as twice at Winterland. The Yardbirds had Clapton on lead, followed by Jeff Beck, and when Jimmy Page came in, Jimmy and Jeff traded instruments. They were a monumental success in the States in 1969 – which is why they played so many nights. Last time I saw them play was in 1977 at the Inglewood Forum, a venue they played no less than 16 times between 1970 and 1977.

Now if you want to hear some good classic rock, go see Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger of the Doors play at the Regency Ballroom in San Francisco on August 20th. I’ll be at their gig on the 19th at the Whisky.

@coopebble: that is true. i was actually surprised by the lyrics - i thought they would be more provocative/controversial. not that they aren’t, now, but i just thought it would be worse.
