Woe is me!

Hi. I know I've posted a chance thread before, but I really wanted to know how good/bad of a chance I've got at DARTMOUTH. EARLY DECISION! dun dun dun

International
Asian Female from Southern California (dang it, I know)
Major: Undeclared

SAT: 2270... 800 M, 790 W, 680 CR
I took it again today (October).
ACT: 34
GPA: 3.8 UW, 4.2 W. 6% in a semi-competitive public school with rigorous couses & an upward trend
Just a little background for myself. I moved to California when I was 13 years old, and didn't speak a word of English then. Not an excuse, but yeah, this hopefully explains my grades... haha.

Extracurriculars:
Choir (4 years including next year)- I started out with a girl's choir at school because there was nothing else to take, but it's grown to be one of my biggest passions. This past year, I was a section leader and the librarian of the group as well as Choir Club President--which means I delegated all the fine arts events at the school like Battle of the Bands and Talent Show. Next year, I am the President of the group as well as a section leader. I also was recommended to an honor choir at CSULA and will have participated in it for three years by this spring.

Yearbook (3 years)- Won awards from Columbia Scholastic Press Association (Silver Crown) and National Scholastic Press Association (Pacemaker). I was the People Editor this year and will be co-EIC's with two other girls next year. I also have received design & writing awards from a yearbook camp.

Theatre/Musical Theatre- Eh, this one is mostly scattered because of my parents and my schedule, but I started in freshmen year and have been in 6 plays & musicals with some lead/supporting roles. I'm also a scholarship recipient for Voice from Professional School for the Arts. I also took private voice and acting lessons throughout high school. Also a finalist (top 10) in a high school theatre competition where about 100-200 people enter in a category
Drama Club Treasurer this year

Speech & Debate (1.5 years)- Just joined last semester, but I qualified for State in Thematic Interp. Some first place trophies in Individual Interpretations.

California Scholastic Federation (4 years)-just a general member

Church/Volunteering (3 years)- I teach K through 2nd graders how to read and speak Korean as well as English at my church.

Teens Against Cancer- I have participated in and helped plan/organize a variety show to fund cancer research over the past two summers.

Thank you! Hey, don't just leave.. post a reply :D

anyone? thank you

I suggest that you look at the ED results here from last year. There were kids I thought were just great who were rejected, so clearly I am unable to predict ED results.

Generally, the impression I have is that most of the ED acceptances are recruited athletes, legacies, or hooked in some other way. I don’t know how your international-but-living-in-the-US status will affect you, either.

In your case, I have the feeling that your chances would be at least as good RD, but I really just don’t know.

bump! :frowning: 10char

id apply but id say u prob have a 30% chance…no hook and no huge thing that stands out…very solid app but you have to get the adcoms to say wow

You have a good chance, but no guarantees. I have to say, you seem to have a really impressive command of English for someone who learned so recently.

I know everyone rolls their eyes when they here this but there really is no formula for admissions. Calculating random percentages really doesn’t help you unless you are really out of the ball park. Admission is selective but they are being honest when they say that there is no set standard.
