My Application Status in WA shows that the secondary school report and HS teacher evaluation have not been received. However, both my counselor and teacher confirmed to me that they had sent them electronically three days ago, a fact I checked on the Common Application. Does anyone know if Michigan takes time in updating these things or should I be contacting the Admissions Office about it?

Give them at least 7 days before you call. It’s the beginning of the admissions season, they have a lot of paperwork to process.

JJJJust, thanks

How exactly can you tell which forms still need to be received? In my WA the only links under admission are “Application Status” and “View I-20 or DS-2019 Status”. Where would it tell me whether they have received my test scores, transcript, etc?

how long after submitting my app do I get my WA info?

Click on Application Status. It’ll have a list of all your applications. Once your application is in the system (about 7-10 days after receiving email with UM ID), you’ll have a link labeled “View Credentials”. At the bottom of the Credentials page will be all material required for your application.

You’ll get WA access about 2 weeks after you submit. Add another week on to your application date in WA for the information listed to be complete and accurate.

OK, I’m really confused. Can anyone clarify the process after I submit all my files for admission? By Monday of next week I would have everything submitted. So, when would I receive confirmation that U of M has received everything?

Is there any way to find out that everything has indeed been received before Nov. 1st? (to make sure that I make the EA deadline). What is the whole process? I’m really confused…

Am I supposed to sign up for Wolverine Access right now or something? (even before I submit everything in)

Sometimes UM will send an email out saying that you will/won’t be considered under EA (but this usually isn’t until the November deadline has passed).

You won’t get an email from UM saying they’ve received all your materials. That’s why WA has the status check. If everything under “Other Required Application Materials” says Received, your application is more than likely complete.

You should sign up for WA 7 - 10 days after you get the email with your UM ID number (which will be 1 - 14 days after your application is downloaded) to give them time to populate your record in WA.

If you really want to know if they have everything, call them.

Essentially it goes:

Apply –> (Wait 1 - 14 days) –> Get UM ID Email –> (Wait 7 - 10 days) –> Create Friend Account –> Login to WA –> View Status –> Wait for Decision.

When do you get the email with the UM ID?

They say 2 weeks after you submit application, but… I’ve seen it happen much faster than that. But give them 2 weeks.

I encourage everyone to read the instructions.

post 8 with the sort of arrow diagram helps a lot! thanks! So, I should just triple check that I have sent in everything required when I apply to know that I’ll be eligible for EA because I’d never know before Nov.1st if I apply on Monday.

Yes, and follow closely since you sent stuff in before you applied… they have the stuff but have had no definitive record to link it to, which increases chances of not being able to find it later.

^Wait, I haven’t sent anything in yet. Should I pay the 75$ first before I send anything in? Will that allow them to keep a file for me or something?

You can do it any way you want.

It’s just easier (and logical) to apply first and then send stuff in since they’ll have an application to link it to… but as November 1 is approaching, just send the stuff once it’s complete.

When you say ‘apply’, what do you mean? Send in the commonapp or the application fee or both?

What if you already have an UMID (I also put it on the app)? They gave me one when I signed up on their mailing list for prospective students. Will I immediately be able to create a friend account once I apply?

If you send in the student portion of the common app (ECs and essay) that will start a file with your name.Sending in supplements will also start a file. I, personally, would just submit everything at once.

And to add on to the answers of your original question, I applied Sep 30, but my transcript haad to be mailed from my school since we are technologically disinclined. Once everything got there, I received a U M ID via email the next day. I then created my Wolverine Access account after first creating my friend account. On the WA, it will show what items they have received, so you know everything is submitted before Nov 1.

(I.e it will say transcript, and have a check mark next to it).

Hope this helped.

@ViggyRam: To apply is to send in an application and the fee, if applicable. (Though they will begin processing materials before the fee is paid and that’s enough to get your UMID out of one of the student workers.)

@kevinnnni: You probably won’t be able to log in to WA. It may let you create the friend account, but I don’t think you’ll have any rights to view New & Prospective Student Business.

Thanks! If I sent out my recs by this Friday via snail mail should everything get to UMich on time? I could always drive over and drop it off because I only live about an hour 15 away.

I’ve turned in things (fee, transcript, ACT’s) at different times. I still haven’t submitted the commonapp or supplement. I think that because I have an UMID, things will go quicker because I don’t have to wait for one.

I haven’t tried to login to WA because I’m afraid to. I don’t want to create an account, apply, and find out that I can’t get in for some reason. But I also really want to know whether they have received my materials. It’s nice having the UMID ready to go since I’m applying so late. I just hope everything works as I think it should.
