Women Everywhere: Want Rugby? Ever Heard of Rugby? Read This!!

So you high school women / girls / young adults out there!! Want to play rugby in college? Wait, ever HEARD of rugby?

I know who you are. You're that kid who wrestled with her brothers and always wanted to play football. Or you are just an athlete who wants to try something new. Or you've never played ANY sport before and want to try. You don't need any experience in rugby (or contact sports) whatsoever to play.

The above describes the perfect rugby player. Def.

Rugby, for those who don't know so much, is kind of a cross between football and soccer. It is made up of a "forward" pack who are tough and hard-hitting, who ruck, tackle, and run the ball. It is made up of a "back" line who are fast and wiley, who pass the ball, run the ball a lot, and score a lot. In rugby, everyone plays defense and offense. You get to run, tackle, pass, catch, ruck, maul, and SCORE!! The idea is to advance the ball by passing it laterally as you run forward up the field. You don't have to be big. In fact, we are one of the smallest teams in the nation yet do incredibly well (see below). There is a position for every body type, ability, and athletic inclination.

So that's you, and that's rugby. Now this is your school:

BROWN UNIVERSITY!!!

I played rugby in high school so it was one of my criteria for choosing a school. But it wasn't until I got here that I realized just how wonderful Brown rugby is.

We are:

-Many more will be on the USA Rugby National u-23 team when try outs happen in the spring.
-Got 9th place in the nation at Nationals last year
