Women of Distinction

Did anyone recieve a letter saying that their application had been recieved?

I actually just called the admissions office and asked them if it was received.

Probably calling them is the best way if you're worried about it. I did WOD but I don't remember if they sent out letters or emails saying that they got your application.

Hope you both get in! Good luck.

hey SmithieandProud, i really hope i get into the WOD program and the college as well. Did u find the program very helpful in learning more about Smith? is admission to the program highly competitive as well?

Well, I had already decided I was going to apply early decision to Smith when I heard about WOD, so for me it was more like the chance of a free trip (I live in Seattle and my airfare was comped) and a fun time, rather than learning something special. I remember the program as a blur of activities, our schedule was really jam packed. It was fun though, and it gives you a chance to meet some people who you'll eventually see on campus (probably).

I don't know how competitive admission is, sorry, but I wish you luck. If you do get accepted to WOD, it's a pretty good sign that you're likely to get accepted to Smith (the WOD application is similar to the regular Smith app. after all), but if you don't get in, don't despair, it doesn't mean you're chances are over.

Good luck !

Thanks so much, everybody!

I just got an email today to let me know that I have been accepted to WOD- it also said the letter will arrive in the mail in a few days. Best of luck! :-)

Wow, how exciting! I will be a host for Women of Distinction, so maybe you'll end up with me!

Do you think they'll send out emails to those who didn't make it?

Hmmm...I was thinking, how many people are in WOD?

When I went there were a lot of people in the program. Maybe more than 50, though maybe that's just my old memory talking.

I'm hosting a someone for Women of Distinction, and according to an e-mail sent to me from the Admissions Office there are exactly 63 people participating.

Hope that helps! :D

I have a random question. I'm trying to decide how to pack for WOD--I'm wondering if I should bring a heavy jacket or if a North Face and long sleeved shirts will be okay. I have looked at the predicted weather reports but I think asking students is probably more reliable. Packing is difficult since I also have to fit a sleeping bag in my suitcase! Thanks!

I think a North Face is fine as long as you don't plan on tramping about late at night or in the early morning hours. Mostly I go around in a sweatshirt right now if I'm just transiting about campus. Definitely bring gloves, a hat, and a scarf though. And remember it starts to get dark at about 4:30/5:00 now, so you'll be outside in the dark at least part of the time.

Still, a down jacket is not neccessary. If you have a wool peacoat, that would serve you well. But nothing heavier than that.

Great! Thanks so much!

the admission office received 311 application for WOD and they only accepted 75 and then 61 decided to attend.
