Is this an April Fools prank? I searched the NYT site and can't find the article using their search engine. Also, the byline is kind of 'fishy.' Speaking of April Fools, did anyone hear the American Public Media piece on NPR yesterday about tax rebates with a twist? I was outraged, but not really surprised.

That really had me going for a good 10 minutes- I was doing searches on "Seymour Conch" and "Tip Biggelow". I don't know how I was fooled so easily. I should have just looked at the URL.

I'm so stupid. I sent this to my class adviser, who is a Navy Lt. and a submariner. The reply was: "If this was a joke, then nice try. If you were serious, then I will crush you for your lack of attention to detail."

Evidently several of the world's Navy's allow women to serve on subs (Germany , Sweden, Canada, Australia, Spain, etc) . I believe the Norweigans put a women in command of one of their subs in the 90's. Anyone know how that went?
