Women's Soccer Recruit

My dd is being recruited to play soccer at Texas. She's from out of state. Does women's soccer get much support from the student body? Are the soccer players supported by the school like the other higher profile teams are?
As a female athlete can she expect a good overall experience at U of T?

ANY feedback is appreciated.

Firstly, congratulations to your daughter on being recruited to the UT soccer team. UT women's soccer is consistantly ranked among the best in the nation, and just receiving attention from such a program should be considered an honor.

Bear in mind that while I am not a student at UT, I am a high school senior born to two UT graduates, and I have made repeated trips to the Forty Acres to support my parents' alma mater. School spirit in the state of Texas is amazing.

To answer your questions, No, soccer is not as big of a sport on campus as, say, football or basketball. However, there is a contingent of fans who make it out to see some of the games at the 20,000 seat Myers Stadium. The school does a good job marketing them, even posting ads for upcoming games on the video board at football games. I think last year they had a game after a UT football game that you could get in for a discounted price with a football ticket stub (that might have been volleyball though). The school cares about all of its athletes and will assure they get a top-notch education to go along with a world-class athletic experience.

Make a visit to UT and see what you and your daughter think. Decide whether it's right for her. Good luck to your daughter in the recruiting process.

Well my daughter just committed to Texas to play soccer. HOOKEM!

Blinc,

Hook'em back at ya. Congratulations to your family on your daughter's terrific accomplishment, and I hope she loves her time at UT.

Congratulations to your daughter blinc!

Thanks all! This is quite a leap of faith as she had been recruited by all of the "big time" soccer schools. But she fell in love with Austin and U of T. It seems like a good fit.
