Won state essay contest - worth contacting colleges?

I found out recently that an essay I wrote last year for my AP US History class was the state winner of an essay contest put on by the Sons of the American Revolution. Winners of local chapters progress to the state contest, and as I won at the state level, I will progress to the national level for judging.

Would it be worthwhile to email colleges about my award? Specifically some of the Ivies and MIT. I applied as a CS major, so I’m unsure if they’d be interested in an award in a subject unrelated to my major.

Thanks!

It can’t hurt. If it was me, I wouldn’t hesitate.

You can send an email, but if most of the schools have made a decision already it probably won’t matter.

Likely it is too late to make any real difference, But if you send something do it ASAP and keep in short and sweet.

@pkchamp89 @soonerbaby19 Thanks for the input - I’ll likely end up sending a quick email, keeping in mind many decisions have already been made.
