Wondering about a C in a class

Hey I'm currently doing all the fun application stuff and was wondering how a C in AP Chem looks. I got a 3 on my AP test but there's a nice little backstory. First of all, my teacher was a narcissist who wouldn't help me at all and can't teach for her life. I got a 78.9% in the class and i earned every percent. Also, I had an 80.5% ish before the last four days of the year other than finals. This is when I had c-diff which pretty much means you're on the toilet 24/7. I also had to hand in 4 100+ pt labs in this period.... I got D's or low C's on all of them but she wouldn't cut me any slack even though i felt like i was going to die for 4 straight days. So I ended up with a C for the year, and considering I'm doing engineering i don't know how bad this will look. I come from a school with a well-renowned higher level science department in the area (I live in NJ) and am currently getting very high A's in both AP Calc and AP Physics. The schools i'm most worried about because of it are UMN-TC and UW-Madison and I added that I was sick for the last four days bringing my grade down to a C, not saying that my teacher was a narcissist because that looks like whining. Any comments would be greatly appreciated. (by the way, sorry about any typos or not capitalizing I's, i'm kind of in a rush to go do something)

Hmmmmm short answer??? I am not going to worry about it too much. I am sure if the rest of your stats are good, that C wouldn’t hurt your chance (well they still do a bit… it’s class grade, right??)

Don’t blame your teacher though  the admission staff will penalize you for saying that kind of thing.

Lol I would never add that. And yeah I have good numbers but I was such a bum freshman and sophmore year so my numbers have been getting much better. Five honors/AP this year and A’s in all of them. Would’ve been six if the school didn’t cut some music classes

How’s your SAT / ACT? They should be quite solid too, if you really want to get into good schools :)

But… lol this is engineering forum… not college admission forum?

Yeah but I’m applying for engineering, and it’s a “hard science” course, so I thought it would get better responses on this. And SAT’s
670 math
580 CR
560 writing

not great, i’m retaking them this saturday. Since writing isn’t used at most of the schools i’m applying to, I’m going for a 1300/1600. I have confidence in myself to get that

If you got a 3 on the AP test then you should have gotten a C in the class.

Disagree. I got an A in a class in which I got a 3 on the AP Exam (French) and a B- in a class (AP Calculus BC) in which I got a 5 on the Ap Exam.

Doesn’t that just tell you that either the class was graded too easy (French) or too difficult (Calc BC)?

Yes that is true. But different schools have different standards. Some wealthier schools manage to have almost everybody get 4’s and 5’s while other schools struggle to have thier students get 3. And grading varies from teacher to teacher and school to school so it’s a somewhat arbitrary conversion from grade to score.

I was just under having a B and she didn’t teach me a thing. and a 3 is pretty much low B at my school(a B at my school is an 80-89, i know at a lot of schools it’s like an 84-93 or something, our classes are taught over the top hard for some reason). she also didn’t explain the ap test to us at all, i went in there with no guidance. the other ap teachers at my school manage to get most people fives but we aren’t that wealthy, it’s half and half. (my ap physics teacher has never had someone get under a 5)

AP exam has a curve too. The curve is different each year, depending on things worked out, I guess. HAHAHA

Ummm what?
