Realizing that DIII does not give money tied to athletics, but we all know they can find money, such as "leadership scholarships" that are often used to help sweeten the pot for wanted athletes. I have read quite a lot about the generous merit aid at Denison, but nothing about how it relates to recruited athletes. They seem to be pretty serious about recruiting my D (flying us in, coaches call or email pretty much daily). But it is way too expensive for us. Does anyone have any insight into what might be expected (reasonably hoped for)? GPA 3.9, top 11% in a big school, SAT 1820 but retaking. She seems to have the grades, AP course load, and test scores, but we are wondering if they will offer enough. Visiting in a month. Thanks for any info and sorry if this is posted in the wrong place. The only diversity check for them would be out of state. It is probably going to come down to the amount of aid - other schools that are seriously recruiting her are about $10k less a year, so Denison would have to beat what they offer. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with that. Need-based is unlikely I think now that one of us is employed again, but we are less than 5 years from retirement age (probably won't be able to retire though) and depleted our savings when the company we both worked for folded and we were basically unemployed for 2 years. Don't know if they will care about that, so we aren't expecting much "need based." I've read all I can find on Denison; appreciate any insight!

My son was a recruited athlete for the class of 2018. He applied ED and needed the coaches support through admissions. He was awarded the 18,000 alumni award (total 72,000 over 4 years). Many people on his team were awarded even more. Hope this helps!
