All of this college lingo is getting me messed up. My registration is in about a month now, and I'm a bit worried about the actual registering part. I have no idea what classes I should take, and all I've heard from Thematic Option is the acceptance letter. I just have a few questions. When I was on my USC website thing, there is an option in the upper right hand corner that says "order a viewbook". Is this that sort of advertisement thing that they send to get you to apply to the school, or is this the thing with the list of classes? Will we get something listing what classes we are taking, or are we supposed to decide using that internet site? Also, will we get some sort of advising during registration on what classes to take, or are we expected to go there with a list of classes in hand? Sorry for all the questions, and thanks for any advice!

the counselors will help you find the right classes for your major. however, if you want to take more control over it, you can look online. for example, i'm a biomed engineering major so i went to that portion of the site and they had requirements for my major as well an example of a typical engineering student's 4 year plan. i also looked at the fall schedule of classes. with those three things, i planned a tentative 1st and 2nd semester. actually i planned all four years (wasn't that difficult, since they already had a plan, i just rearranged it a little to accomodate ap classes and a spanish minor). but mind you, i'm ridiculous and somewhat compulsive about controlling my future (i'm sure its really unhealthy or something...but oh well) so you really don't have to worry about it, unless you want to. if you're doing thematic option and you're not in a professional school, you basically take CORE 102 and CORE 104 as well as a writing course the first semester. then second semester, you take CORE 101 and CORE 103. if you're an engineering major you'll probably have to space your thematic option courses over your first 4 semesters. oh and the viewbook is just a glossy publication to convince people to apply to USC.

Thanks for the info about which classes and when we take them for TO.
