I've wanted to go to Georgetown since my sophomore year of high school and sadly yesterday I was deferred. Interestingly, I got into Michigan only an hour before hearing about Georgetown.

I realize how great of a university Michigan is but I guess it's being sort of obscured by the deferral from Georgetown.

As the day wore on though I began thinking that maybe Michigan might be better than Georgetown and that if I had to go through all this trouble to get into Georgetown, maybe it's just not worth it.

I was hoping I could get some feedback on whether or not I should pursue Georgetown or in fact stay with Michigan. I.E. what are the advantages of Michigan?

If I were to pursue Georgetown I would have to re-take SAT II's and of course start whining to my interviewer and figuring out ways to improve my chances.

Having friends, parents and teachers go to both schools, and having visited both schools, I can tell firmly tell you that the University of Michigan is far more superb. The University of Michigan is rated top 10 in all of the major categories of study (i.e. business, medicine, engineering) and also minor categories (arts, etc.).

Furthermore, the experience at Michigan is superb. Michigan's loyalty from its students is unparalleled (and often times scary). Also, there is the eclectic mix of individuals that contributes to the overall diversifying aesthetic of the University of Michigan.

I am not condescending Georgetown by any means. However, ultimately the University of Michigan's undergraduate and graduate studies are certainly more superb and will prepare you better for whatever future aspirations you have.

Just my two cents. Good luck in your decision.
