Many ppl in my school apply for this major, (like significantly more than last year...) If u have any idea about this major, please share...
Is MCB an alternative for Chemical Biology?

Well there are several different emphases the MCB degree, for example, I myself applied in the neurobiology division. There is also an emphasis on Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, which may be what you'd be interested in since you applied for Chemical Biology, but correct me if I'm wrong. If you choose MCB with an emphasis on Biochem and Molecular Biology, you're going to be focusing on a level between Chemical Biology and Cellular Biology - so it's sort of a happy medium in between the too. Since the Chemical Bio major is listed within the department of chemistry, I'm sure you'll be focusing on a lot more chemistry than if you went the MCB route - so it really depends on what you want to do. Are you thinking of switching majors if you get into Berkeley?

MCB is not an alternative for Chem Bio. Chem Bio is a new major that was started just a few years ago for those who want to focus more on the chemistry of biological studies.

MCB is a difficult major-- there are tough competition and difficult material. But in the end, you learn a lot.

Man, it seems like whenever you ask someone at Cal what their major is, you can expect MCB as the reply

It's a big major. There are around 500 graduates every year.
