Won't release transcripts?

Hey everyone, I'm new to this forum so I hope this question hasn't already been answered.
I took a couple online classes recently through an online school. I'm now planning on going to a school that is closer to where I live. The new school is needing my transcripts, but the problem is they won't release them. There was a glitch in their system, and the school is charging me for a class that I was never enrolled in. When I called to talk to the school about it they said that it was for something else, which I know is not true. They basically gave me the run around. The amount keeps going up. Today I received a bill for $1,000 more than it was previously! I really don't know what to do in this situation because I really need to be in school, and the school told me that I could attend this semester, but they had to have my transcripts. The only way I can get those transcripts is to pay off the debt, but I don't feel like I should have to pay for a class that I never was enrolled in.
Does anyone have any advice for me?

You have to contact the old college again, and ask for a detailed billing statement. Once you have that, you will be able to question the individual line items on the bill. It may take several phone calls, and you will probably have to ask to speak with someone who is higher up in the administration before you get the issue settled once and for all.

Good luck!
