Parents-- I know the waiting period now begins, but so excited that my DD got in her apps-- 3 EAs at schools she should get into, and her ED! SO, wanted a place for us to celebrate the kids getting these apps done…fingers crossed that my DD gets into her ED but hoping she has some good options early
Good luck!
Congratulations!! My dd also just completed her apps – 11 in all, 5 EA, 1 rolling and 5 RD. I’m so happy for her that those are done and out of the way.
Congrats!! That has to be a good feeling - for the kid AND the parents. I hope I will be able to say DD is done by Halloween when her application season arrives.
Congrats! Our kids did their applications before the beginning of November, and it made their senior year soooo nice. They watched friends still dealing with applications in December and January…and our kids already had EA acceptances before Christmas…some before Thanksgiving!
Congratulations! S2 is soooo close - two EAs in, and one ED that will be in tomorrow morning if all goes well. Hoping to be back to celebrate with you all in less than 24 hours. Fingers crossed.
Congratulations to all of your kids for getting those apps in so early! You’re going to have much more peaceful, relaxed winter holidays than so many of their peers! Way back when, my kids’ GC urged the seniors to do this just for family harmony over the winter holiday season.
Hi everyone our student20 put in three apps in August and is in at two of them which is a relief to us parents anyway. Put in another match/safety over the weekend and finishing an ED high reach app now.
Student originally planned 5 more probably will do two Or three more (reach and low reach). Not too many essays but a portfolio has been a big hurdle. We are all eager to wrap up by mid to late November…
Best wishes to all your kids
I love this thread! Lol. Congrats to everyone who have some done! My son has submitted 8 so far and I’m SO glad. One was the big ED one, so I’m happy that’s in. He’s got about 3 or 4 more (will be RD), but is still deciding how many more. He’s hopefully finishing a couple that complete his favorite 5 in the next 4 days or so, but those are RD, so not as big of a hurry. This whole process has been nuts and I’m glad a chunk is done!
Fingers crossed for all of you! This thread is bringing back great memories! Older s applied ED and younger s got his first acceptance (to the school he ended up attending) before Halloween. Makes the senior year so much more comfortable!!
Congratulations on getting those apps in! My d submitted her ED and 5 EA apps last week, and it was such a relief! Hoping for some good news before Christmas. Good luck everyone!
Congrats!!
At this time last year, mine only completed 3 apps as well. One simply b.c it didn’t need anything beyond what he’d already completed for his ED and EA apps. So even though it was RD, he hit submit.
He had his ED decision the evening of his last day of school before winter break and I agree, it just made 2nd semester so much less stressful. He had alot of other things going on, I can’t even imagine how miserable he’d have been if he’d been worried about apps and decisions as well.
Congrats to all of you. For the 4 submitted, my daughter had a ton of essays-- one of the EAs was for an honors program and that had 3 essays! She will hopefully have 5 more apps ready to go if she does not get into her ED choice–while she has the grades and ACT score at the 75th percentile, still seems competitive so unclear if she will get in. So, hoping she will have the rest ready to go (only 1 does not require an additional essay or two!)
S20 is just about done. Many apps submitted, with only a couple to go. And for those, only minor things remain. Most are EA, except for the schools that didn’t offer EA. He has to get his ED form signed by his counselor, but that app is otherwise complete. His ED is such a super reach that S knows it’ll be like hitting the lottery, but hey, the school says ED applicants get a boost so he’ll take that jump from 2% to 4%.
It’s been busy the past few weeks, but I won’t say hectic. More like a controlled sense of urgency that forced a lot of other tasks/activities to the side. I wish more of this had been done during the summer, but all in all it was not too bad.
However, make no mistake, I AM GLAD IT IS OVER except the waiting. Now maybe my younger daughters won’t feel left out.
My daughter has just one EA school and she got that in on Monday. I’m SO happy and relieved! She was being so self-critical I thought she might continue to revise her essays FOREVER. I’m really proud of her.
It is unclear if she is going to apply ED, but she has the app ready to go.
My D20 has her ED submitted and 4 EAs - in addition to her rolling school that has already admitted her. Unfortunately she has 2 more for 11/15 - one EA and one priority deadline AND 2 honors apps also due 11/15. I’m more worried about the honors apps as I think there are 5 essays between the two of them(!) Not sure how much she has done.
After 11/15 it’s smooth sailing as she’s done with the supplements for the RD apps as they were all schools she considered for ED and worked on during the summer. We’re debating whether we want to just submit them to be DONE or wait until after the ED school announces and save the app fees. She knew that once mid November hit, she’d have very little time until after Christmas with Nutcracker.
@Darcy123 Honestly, I’d probably wait. My S19 had a few other apps about 1/2-3/4 complete that he knew he could work on over Xmas break if he didn’t get into his ED school. If there’s not a ton to get done on those apps, I think I’d let them sit until she has a few decisions in hand. That’s 7 apps already!! Concentrate on the alligator next to the boat first and maybe snooze a little on the ones downriver, KWIM?
I hear you @ChaosParent23 ! I think there’s also a bit of benefit in “moving on” so to speak with the next batch of apps and thinking about them when submitting if ED doesn’t go as hoped.
That’s exactly the idea my son had as well. Hopefully it works out for your DD as well as it did for my DS. He’s absolutely thriving at his ED school. Fingers crossed for your daughter!
He did it! S2 hit “submit” last night on his ED app. What a happy guy.
His in-school deadline is this Friday (for anything with an 11/15 due date), but his personal goal was getting it done before Halloween, which is a huge deal at his school.
Good luck to everybody!
