Our son will attend Woodberry Forest School this fall. (For those who may not know, Woodberry is a 100% boarding, all male school, in Virginia.)

Any WFS parents, alum or friends out there?

Thanks!

My brother graduated from WFS decades ago. The school also offered admission to my son last year. From what I can tell, it is THE school for VA and NC school boys.

Good luck to you and your son this coming school year.

Search for the parent Yan19454. She has not posted for some time. I hope I got her name right! You can send her a pm. I think her son has been there for 2 years.

Hi Klements - My son will be entering Woodberry this year as a IV Former. My wife, son and I are very excited about this opportunity and just a bit nervous about this since it is a totally new experience for us. I am sure that you and your family are excited and nervous too. What year will your son be entering?

@dadprep: Our son will be entering as a V Former. I’ll send you a PM. A pleasure to meet you, albeit virtually. Cheers!

Aloha,
We are looking at WFS this next week. How has you son felt about his experience there?

My brother graduated from WFS many years ago, and his son is a junior there now. WFS tends to attract a fair number of Alpha males; my brother played football there and in college, and his son just received an offer this weekend to play football in the SEC. Nothing wrong with Alpha males…if you are one. That said, WFS does its best to make these boys into gentlemen, although it may have failed with my brother. [Woodberry Forest is doing a much better with my nephew, only because, I think, he will be at WFS longer (3 years) than his father was (1 year).]

My son had been in WFS for three years and I met some parents there and be friends with them right now. My son and I had been really happily there. There are a lot of generational and relatives like granddad and dad and sons, uncles etc there. Your son will be happy there. Southern school and tradition. They have a new science building . The headmaster will retire this year. I am wondering who will take his place. Headmaster’s wife is in charge of the parent association . Any question about the school, email me.

Thanks.
