WooHoo!!! Application Complete!!!

I just checked the status of my s's application and they got his transcript! He is going to be so happy!! EVERYTHING is done!!

Now, he just has to sit back and wait for the letter!

Hook Em Horns - Class of 2011 (ooh that's a scary thought)

got mine in a couple of weeks ago. still waiting for a reply.

I wonder how long it will take. Two years ago, my oldest applied and didn't hear until April, but he wasn't top 10%. I am hoping my younger s hears soon. It will be wonderful to have all of this behind us.

You were an early bird! We thought my s was quick, but we had transcript issues with the registrar at his school. They lost the request in an unrelated pile and I had to go by there to light a fire under them to get it out!

Ag54,

Three years ago, our son applied to UT and Plan II. He got an acceptance letter in early December from Plan II and around March 1 from UT, but he came from a non-ranking high school so this may not help much.

How long does it usually take until we hear our decision?

Wow! you guys are fast! DS is top ten percent, so he's not in a big hurry to apply. He does plan on getting his application in by Thanksgiving, and he did get his housing app in before 7:00 a..m. on September 1st - but the application is not anywhere near done. (He's dragging his feet on those essays.....) congratulations to you guys for getting them done so fast!

the feeling of getting it done with outweighs the benefits of procrastination by far.

now for my other college applications...i wish i could live by my own advice.

My s has decided to only apply to UT. He is #1 in his class so is an auto admit. He did it so early because he wants business and also wanted it to be over with. We are anxiously awaiting the acceptance letter too!

The essays weren't so bad because he had to do one for his English class; for the other, he modified an essay he had done earlier which ended up fitting really nicely with the topic.

It is just a relief to have it over with. My older s got his apps all in by Nov. then changed his mind and ended up applying last minute (Feb) to the place he ended up, so it was a roller coaster. I am so happy that my #2 s is taking the easy route.

Ag54,

Permit me to be among the first at CC to say "Hook'em Horns" to you and your son and to wish him well as he starts his journey at McCombs.

Thanks DRJ4, I am so happy and excited that he has chosen to go to UT. For selfish reasons I will be glad that he is just a couple of hours away and can come when he feels like it. My older s is 15 hours away, and when he leaves, we don't see him until the next major holiday!

I agree. In our case, it's 6 hours by car and 1-1/2 by plane. It makes a big difference to know they can come home more often than Thanksgiving and Spring Break.

Well, my boy may well end up 20 minutes from home! (But he'll live on campus, so we probably won't see him all that often...) DS is applying in enigneering, hoping to get into honors program. Honors apps aren't due until February, so he figures that meeting the Dec 1 scholarship app deadline and getting his own app in then will be soon enough. :)

Ag54 and Anxiousmom,

Clearly, you both have fine sons who have chosen to apply to rigorous and excellent programs. Congratulations - I know you are proud of them.

(BTW, Anxiousmom - My theory is that living on campus is a like being one timezone away. It's a different world completely.)
