Woohoo, daughter got an app done!

Hearty congratulations, Aud!! My S's own household status has recently been upgraded from the "living in a cardboard box" category to "OMIGOD, you got one in!" :D

Well done Audi's D!! You know, they often come through when you fear the worst...

I can't tell you how happy I am that I'm not the only parent who has needed duct tape to keep the daily "encouragements" at bay. I finally resorted to giving my S a deadline of today to get his ED essays done. And will wonders never cease, he actually had them waiting for me when I got home. It's comforting to know we "uber-parents" are not alone!

I'm jealous. I gave the same deadline for EA essay. Ha! No way!!

Ok
I am glad I am not the only parent pulling her hair out. My D has one application in (no essay) but her other choices (which are all rolling admissions) nothing. It is the essay - she is on her 4th version. All completely different, all in my opinion - good. When I told her that they were all good - she got mad that I didn't understand!!!!! If I ask about the essay, she's mad because I'm "pushing"her, if I don't ask she's mad because it means that I don't care. I really worry that she will limit her options by her waiting so long. I know the essay is important but I don't think it is that important. SHe has great stats. None of the schools she is applying to are stretches - in fact they're all certain IF SHE GETS THE STUPID ESSAY DONE!!!!! Duct tape sounds like a good idea

I have reached the point where I can say that I can see the tunnel. Maybe not the light at the end of it but the tunnel itself. She is down to needing one teacher rec, the GC re-packaging the transcript and school report and re-sealing it and mailing the darn things. Yipee!!

Go Mudgie! Isn't it amazing the way they pull this off just at the moment where their other option is death by parent throttling?

What an accomplishment! The rest of the school year looks quite promising for her and her folks...time to savor senior year and think about choices.

Only two are due the first of November (plenty of time). I hope she can re-do a couple of things (or 3 SAT Subject Tests before RD;)). BUT I am very, very pleased. The essays reportedly do not suck (so say the soothsayers). The GC rec ain't that bad. Her resume is pretty good, actually. The app itself is accurate and neatly done.Test scores have been sent. One EA , one scholarship deadline.

Next is a rolling admission with a separate honors app and Joint Admission to Med School app. That sounds like real fun. Then 3-4 more EA and scholarship deadlines 12/1-15. Everything else is RD but I bet we send everything in before 12/1.Hey. I can dream, right?

We are the luddites of whom jmmom speaks. Nothing is going online. I have to touch it to know it's real, dinosaur that I am. :)

Not only don't I get to touch it (she submits it online), I don't even get to read it. I called home Monday and she told me she submitted her ED app earlier in the day. She said she felt the essays were good, so I guess that'll have to suffice for me. OK, two down, four to go.

audiophile, thankfully D is as challenged as I am when it comes to all things computer or online. She doesn't trust the dang thing either. The Flatearth family. Glad to meet ya.

Hmmm, a cc aficianado claiming to be a Luddite. Something's fishy in the state of Denmark.
(with apologies to Shakespeare)

Curmudge. I have turned off my PM but would turn it on again if Mudge needed any more essay readers. Please advise. Actually, I figure she is done, just wanted to offer the hh if needed.

cur- what great progress! Congrats. The one app I can not get Wild Child to even look at is the one from our great state university down in your neck of the woods. The essay questions are "stupid" and "it isn't due unti February" and he'll "probably get into his ED school so why waste the time". He has a scholarship app for Georgia due on November 15 which has a tough essay.
I really want him to have a few applications ready to go by December in case something goes wrong with the ED school, since they will have to be done before he leaves school on December 15 for Christmas break. I think he is tired of me mentioning it, so I'll take a break until late November and start harping on it again then.

Hey all!!! DD just finished her EA app. YAY! This is after a good friend and his father stopped by to have us proof his essay. The kids are alright! Good luck to all.

Mine just finished his ED app. Never did get to read the essay. I am already nervous about hearing, as four kids from his school are applying ED to the same school. Do the schools check the quarter grades? because I haven't seen a lot of studying going on lately...
