I took the ACT for the first time two weeks ago and got a 35. Should I take it again? I know that I could have gotten a 36 if I studied more, but I don't know if I should bother taking it again. What is the difference between a 35 and a 36 in colleges' eyes?

BTW I bought the Real Act prep guide, the Ultimate ACT tool kit, Cracking the ACT, and the online program. I used the practice tests from the Real ACT, and Cracking the ACT had a few good tips. I guess the tips in the Ultimate one were good too, but I didn't even bother taking the practice tests in it because I took the first english practice test and scored a 21 and was about to cry so I didn't go any further lol. The online one was worth the 20 bucks for the practice tests.

So I think the online program, the Real ACT, and Cracking the ACT are all worth it. Ultimate ACT tool kit is evil, but you might want to get it anyways.

I don't know how this came out to 35 but here are my scores
English 36
Math, Science, Reading, 34

You already have a 99.9% score.

A 35 is fine for every school there is.

There is a good chance you would score a 35 or less.

If you don’t get a 36 you might become even more obsessive about it and waste even more time on retakes.

With a great ACT score behind you, you can now spend your time more wisely on other facets of your life, college related or not.

I would politely disagree with the post directly above - I can understand your query. I also thought, for some time, that there was some magic about “the perfect score” and that those with the ability to earn it should do so, regardless of how many retakes it took.

I have since changed my mind. That tiny up will make no difference in admissions and will waste 4 + hours of your life.

Well, another student at my school got a 35 and did not get accepted to a college he applied to, if he had a 36 would they have definitely accepted him?

don’t waste your time taking it again.. there is virtually no difference between a 35 and a 36… if you really want to, go ahead… just be wary, there’s a big chance you could slip to a 34.. a 35 is great.. getting a 36 won’t matter at all

i got a 34 on my act, and that’s really all you need… 34+ is the sweet spot for these big school… with a 35, you’re set
