woooowww im sooo glad I found this website..

Hello,

I have been taking AP B physics now and im a junior. This is my first AP class, as before Ive stuck to the honors system, and then I learned our school was offering AP classes and I enrolled in physics. However this class is nearly impossible. I dont want to make excuses, but my teacher sucks. I know everyone says that about theirs, but I mean it, what good is a teacher if all she does is derive the formula during class, and not solve problems with us. She is a really nice lady, but a bad teacher.

So usually I have to go home and teach myself how to do the problems.

and then test day comes around and the class usually fails and we get a 20 point curve. Stupidity. I would say the average grade is a 80(post curve). She says she makes the tests harder then the AP.

I think another problem maybe that I dunno how to study. For example I have a test on magnetism on wedsday. Usually I stay after school, and then go home and study and do problems. Then I usually get tired and sleep, and walk in the next day without any real condifence and do bad. Its getting repetive, so its obvious what im doing is wrong.

I would also like to say, before I conclude, that I dont think its a matter of me not being able to handle the class. I have taken a (conceptually) harder class before and aced it but that was a 1 semester class and I would not be able to apply the same study methods as I would have to in this class.

so you guys have any feed back on how to prepare for a test, ESPECIALLY the AP. which i am very nervous about..

share any info you have, id be very greatful

ok. what I would do is a couple things.
i'm in AP Physics B right now as well, and I realize your pain.

Physics IS a difficult class. Even my teacher makes the test very difficult, then curves it so at least 1 person gets a 100.

as for your studying- don't study ONLY the night before the test.
if your teacher assigns you problems, do them two or three nights before the actual test date, so you can go ask her about anything you are confused in.

We just finished magnetism (test on optics tomorrow :( ) and it was a VERY difficult test. magnetism SUCKS.

also, the night before a big, important test, you have to get adequate sleep. going into the test tired isn't a good idea.

do some problems, and if you can do them right, then you're on the right track.

if you can't do any of the problems, go back and read the chapter(s) and try to revise any notes you have, then go back and try the problems.

i have a great physics teacher, therefore I can't sympathize w/ you on that, sorry.
