i know! I had so many, and now none of them count. I kind of have to know a lot because my counselor is one who if you're not 100% perfect she discourages you from applying to your reach/dream schools

o.o Ouch that sucks. x.x

but it's okay. She can't stop me from applying to Brown even if she wants to.

lol my counselor thought/thinks i'm an idiot even tho my rank is decent 24/410, and i have fair sats... and after i said i was conservative she recommended i apply to brown... ***...

hahahaha brown conservative, now that's an oxymoron if i've ever heard one. My rank is kind of low (I'd rather not say). I'm hoping being a urm will at least help out a little with my rank.

:] How do you find out your rank?

it's on the transcripts my school hands out every semester

my school doesn't have rankings on the transcripts, and no one really knows their rank. Maybe an advantage. but we keep track of vals and sals

I wish we didn't rank, 1 ap class can be the difference between being #10 and #25.

Same here. I'm in like all AP classes and I have a relatively low (just barely top 10) in my class. And all the relatively good students that are too lazy to take APs so they just take all easy regular classes have higher ranks than me. Grrr.

no matter what, there is no way to make the system fair. It's not fair when I have a schedule 5x harder than my friends, yet they're ranked far better than me.

i have more credits taken than every junior and most seniors... yet i rank 24... why? because i have never taken a cp class, and have taken almost every ap class... i don't want to come off sounding arrogant, which it most likely does... but there are kids who take all honors and get a's and i'm sorry but ap physics is a whole lot harder than honors... as with calc bc and ab... and with chem... u know what i'm talking about... sorry had to vent

[huggles Cujoe] ^_^ But colleges rather see students who are taking classes, remember? :P?

yea... but still... first impressions mean a lot... i'm pretty sure a single digit number looks better on first glance than a double digit number does right?

I think so, cujoe, but I know they have to take into consideration your grades in your classes and stuff. I'm sure your counselor rec will mention the ranking system in depth as it relates to you, if your counselor likes you haha. Mine loves me.

I know, my number will make colleges cringe.

I have officially taken Yale off my list! So none of you ea'ers are my competetition anymore! but harvard ea here I come!

mine hates me... well not hate, misunderstands? yea that's the word... she thinks i'm an idiot... for example... frosh year, she refused to let me take an independent study of alg II because my 8th grade teachers said i belonged in remedial* i ended up getting a's in both math classes... 2nd time... she refused to let me double up latin III because calc BC interfered in my schedule, still not convinced i could do it she said no, i appealed to the head of the department... i now have an a in calc and a b+, yea i know, in latin lol... our guidance department runs the gambit from very good counselors to very poor ones

@celebrian... u do know harvard is more numbers oriented right? but yale is more conservative... sigh+stary eyed my haven... pun intended ;)

I know, it wasn't for that reason I dropped yale. It was a mixture of a lot of different factors. So they'll reject me and life will go on, like it always does.

--; I wonder if my counselor likes me. xP I got to find that out on Monday. OMG Celebrian you're dropping Yale? [shakes Celebrian25 back and forth] ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND? Just playing. ^^ Havard EA I see. XD Goodluck gettinng into that. :P Hope you make it.

I don't think my counselor likes me, well my reg. one does, but not the college one.
