Woot, got Unit 3 Housing assignment today, which was my first choice.

supposedly it's the best housing unit to live in, can i get a confirmation on this? :D

It's old. However, it has a new dining common and the Bear Market.

it depends on what you want. other dorms have their perks too. unit 3's perks: most social, closest to rsf, right next to cafe3. it's downsides might be: laundry room in the basement, older buildings, noisy?.

I'm living there right now.

My favorite aspect of it would be the location. It's close to everything, aside from the places mentioned above, also the banks (Wells Fargo and Bank of America), Sather Lane, Telegraph Ave, Walgreen's, Subway's, that little Chinese store that sells combos, etc.

So then...the other units don't have laundry rooms in the basement?

unit one and two all have laundry rooms on the even floors.

I don't know, I stayed in a unit 3 room (as everybody does) for CalSO and wasn't all that impressed with the quality of rooms but I really like my double in unit 1. However, I will give you that Cafe 3 and RSF would be very nice to be right next to as opposed to crossroads and the Berkeley Art Museum. :|
