On Supplements, colleges often do not specify how long they want their essays to be. Specifically, Haverford College and Bard College- how long do they want their supplementary essays to be?

Also, do you guys think that the supplementary essays are more important than the general essay for the common app?

The average essay seems to be around 500 words. I guess they don't want to force everybody into a single cookie-cutter, but it would be nice to have a guideline. I think which essay is the most important probably depends on the applicant. One applicant might have a great CA essay and somebody else might have a great supplemental essay.

I would say anywhere from 350-750. It depends on what you are writing and what kind of writer you are.

The supp. is important, but I don't think it will override your other essay. It just serves as an addition, perhaps giving a more original prompt or asking your reasons for applying
