Whats the word limit for "Please tell us how you have spent the last two summers (or vacations between school years), including any jobs you have held" essay? It didn't specifiy anything. This is for the Common App Supplement.

Also, for the Additional Information section, can I add an extra 700word essay that is a light read that tells something more about me? Whats the word limit for that section??

On the pton app (not common app), the word limit for summers was 250. If you want to send in another 700 word essay, maybe you can use the optional "what else?" supplement.

It just says to briefly describe your summer activities -- that doesn't necessarily mean there's a word limit. If there was a word limit, then they would obviously tell you. It just means don't go into too much detail.

But, if you're looking for a number, it probably shouldn't be any more than 300 or 400, which is already a lot.

I think the summers "essay" isn't so much an essay as it is... just telling them what you did. That's probably the only way it'll fit in 250 words.

On the optional "What else would you like us to know?" section, I want to submit a writing assignment I'd done in class last year. It's fairly reflective of me, my community, background, and I don't see how else Princeton would see this other part of me.

Issue is, it's ~4.5 pgs, double spaced. Can I turn it in as a writing submission - even though I'm not going into anything writing related as a major?

Last year, my child's essay was 330 words long, which was all that would fit in the on-line app. before text started getting lost when you printed out a hard copy. I think the limit was characters, not words, so you could have had a bit more or fewer words last year depending on what you wrote. Don't know if it is the same this year.

It was the essay last year that came under the heading "Summers" on the Princeton supplement. It was almost a year ago, so I hope I am remembering correctly, but as I recall, on the on-line version my child could put in as much text as desired but when a hard copy was printed out, it would truncate after a certain number of words. I know the word count is correct because I "inherited" the computer when my child went off to college, and the file is still on it.
